News and Events
Outing to the Light Cinema
The residents enjoyed an outing to the light cinema in New Brighton where we watched a dementia friendly sing a long version of calamity Jane, the residents really enjoyed this and we had a lovely day out. We will be going again in June and this will now be a regular trip.
Day Trip to Lady Lever Art Gallery
Recently Summer Field residents visited the Lady Lever art gallery in port sunlight which houses collections of fine and decorative art the museum was opened by lord lever who founded the company lever brothers in the village of port sunlight, this day trip was a wonderful chance for residents to reminisce as the museum and village would have been a large part of their history.
At Easter time the residents took part in an Egg hunt where chocolate eggs were hidden around the home and residents and carers followed clues to find them. We also made Easter cakes!
Every Month we are visited Malcolm from Active Minds who specialises in reminiscence. He is very enthusiastic about what he does and this reflects in the residents when he is here.
Queens 90th Birthday Celebrations
For the queens 90th birthday carers and residents made queens head masks , did a royal quiz , crafts and played pin the crown on the queen.
04/04/2015 – Entertainment/Singer Steve Khan
All of the residents enjoyed some musical entertainment (especially the ladies) which was preformed by singer Steve Khan. I think they have a soft spot for him, he has performed for us a few times and is very popular. The more able residents got up dancing which they really enjoyed and some of them got a signed photo too.
02/04/2015 – Easter Egg decoration competition
For the Easter egg decoration competition the winners, Peggy and Lil were given a luxury chocolate egg each which they shared with the other residents (not diabetics of course!), they all really seemed to enjoy and even got a bit competitive. Most resident took part and the residents that didn’t still joined us at the table and enjoyed wearing Easter bonnets which they also decorated.
10/03/2015- Drinks & Pianist
All residents enjoyed an evening of drinks and music, residents were offered a drink of wine/beer which were served with lemonade, there were a few relatives there as well who also really enjoyed their drinks and listening to the pianist play. Old favourites from the 40’s and some musicals were played and residents were up dancing it was a nice way for them to welcome the weekend in.
I think they would have had more to drink (especially the men) if they had their way! I’ve never seen anyone enjoy a shandy so much it was lovely!
