About Westwood House Residential Home
Westwood House Residential Home is situated in the picturesque market town of Ashby de la Zouch. This splendid house is a 3-storey Victorian building set within an acre of land. We have our own secluded gardens to the front, side and rear of the property, and ample parking for visitors.
The home is conveniently placed within a short stroll of Ashby town centre, which includes a wide variety of restaurants, bars and shops. The town has a medieval castle, museum and many other attractions, making it a popular destination to visit.
The range of accommodation consists mainly of single rooms, but there are companion rooms for those wishing to share. Residents are encouraged to bring their own possessions and furniture to make their room as homely as possible.
The home normally accommodates residents on a long-term basis, although some residents may be accepted for short-term respite stays.
Throughout the whole of Westwood House the co-ordination of colours in furnishings, carpets and fabrics helps to create a pleasant ambience. There are two large, welcoming lounges and a dining room with a seating area.
The aim of the home is to provide a warm, happy and secure environment, within which the privacy and independence of our residents is respected.
There are no restrictions on visiting times. Family members and friends are most welcome to visit as and when they wish. Drinks and snacks are always available, and we are happy to provide meals for visitors by prior arrangement.
The aim of Westwood House is to provide a warm, happy and secure environment, via our traditional meals, kind and friendly staff, and a very comfortable home. We always aim to protect and respect the privacy and independence of our residents.

Westwood House appreciates the intrinsic value of people, and we respect each of our resident’s uniqueness and varying personal needs. This ensures maximum comfort, wellbeing and happiness.
We provide lots of enjoyment and, even more essentially, plenty of tender loving care.
Our 24-hour staffing ensures that personal assistance with washing, dressing, bathing and toileting needs is always available. All rooms have a care call system.
Local General Practitioners visit the home when required, as do the District Nurses. Care plans are prepared after consultation with the resident, family and carers and can be tailored to individual needs.
The home is staffed in accordance with the Registering Authority. It is our policy to provide an exceptionally high quality of care, underpinned by our exceptional standards of training. This ensures that care and skills are kept at the highest level.
Our dedicated care assistants are all qualified or working towards an NVQ in Health and Social Care, in accordance with the Commission for Social Care Inspection’s minimum standards.
All medicines are administered by trained carers, and are ordered on a GP’s prescription.
Our experienced kitchen staff offer a wide variety of nutritionally balanced quality home-cooked meals. We display our menus in advance, and cater for all types of dietary needs. Meals are a leisurely experience so that our residents can eat at their own individual pace.
Breakfast is an individual daily choice. Our residents can order anything from a glass of juice to a cooked breakfast, and it is offered from the earliest time of rising to the latest.
Westwood House offers plenty of activities with the aim of keeping mind and body active. We have a keyboard in one of our lounges, which the residents and their visitors enjoy playing and using for singalong sessions.
Our staff members are always delighted to help with the continuance of residents’ hobbies, or with the learning of new interests and skills. The staff members happily play games and arrange activities with the residents during the afternoons.
We now enjoy regular visits from the Fozel Theatre Company, a monthly accordion player, and many other events are arranged for the enjoyment of our residents.
As part of each care package, exercise, mobility and independence are maintained by our own staff. Should the need arise, a referral to a physiotherapist via a GP will be made for more intense treatments.
Laundry is included in the fee of the home. However we do not undertake the washing of pure wool, hand knitted or thermalactyl garments. Prior to admission all clothing should be clearly marked with woven sew-in labels to guard against loss. Basic mending is included in the fees.
