About Rider House

Rider House Nursing Home has been a well-known land mark on Stapenhill Road for many years, dating back to 1960.  Originally named George Rider Residential Home it comprises single room accommodation, set out over two floors that are served by a large lift for easy access. There are some en-suite rooms available upon request.

We are located directly opposite the tranquil Stapenhill Gardens, and regularly take residents out to view wildlife and the scenery. Friends and family members often enjoy walks along the River Trent and across the newly refurbished historical Ferry Bridge with their loved ones. The home is situated just four minutes by car from Burton town centre, ideal for shopping trips, dining out and entertainment. We also have an activities co-ordinator, who organises frequent entertainment, enrichment and outings, as well as one-to-one social visits for residents unable to make it to common areas.

Rider House's friendly, skilled team is able to offer care and accommodation for up to 41 residents over the age of 65. We pride ourselves in delivering person-centred care for all, including respite care, the management of chronic conditions and palliative care. Ours is a homely, relaxed environment, which provides residents with comfort, security and a sense of wellbeing.

"My mother-in-law has been in Rider House for 2 years. Over this time I have been really impressed by the warmth, caring, kind friendliness and professionalism of the staff.

When she was very ill recently and admitted to hospital from the home one member of staff accompanied her to the hospital and stayed with her despite it being several hours past the end of shift but she waited till my sister-in-law arrived at the hospital. Please thank her.

My mother-in-law with the help and quality care provided by Rider House has made a remarkable recovery to a point where she again enjoys her food, her sense of humour has returned and her dignity has been respected." ~ Gill W (Daughter-in-law of Resident), on Friday 12 January 2018.

" My mum spent six months in Rider House. She was excellently looked after. I visited her every day. The staff were very good, caring and kind.
I would recommend this care home to anyone. Sadly mum passed away in June. The staff on duty that night were amazing. " ~ Paul R (Son of Resident), on Tuesday 19 December 2017.

"I was very unsure how my mom was going to react as she has never wanted to end up needing to be looked after, but after a couple of hours, a very rocky start, that all changed. The staff here are so friendly, kind and have made her so very very welcome. My mom is deaf so needs things to be written down which is what happens and they have found their own way of communicating which has made her the happiest I have seen her for many years. She is even eating well which she has also not done for years, hence her getting weaker and weaker. So what I can say, which also comes from my husband, brother and sister in law, is a very big well done and thank you so much for your help and kindness to my mom and indeed myself at such a difficult time. " ~ Janet R (Daughter of Resident), on Friday 15 December 2017.
