Our staff members are passionate and dedicated, offering nurture to those living with elderly mental health conditions, including Dementia.
About Summer Fields
Summer Fields Care Home is registered as a 50 bed residential home. It offers long-term residential care for the Elderly Mentally Infirm (EMI), as well as respite, daycare and short-term stays. Summer Fields Care Home is proud to be a specialist in the field of elderly mental health care, and we warmly welcome your enquiries.
Visiting
Family members and friends are welcome to visit as and when they wish. Drinks and snacks are always available, and we are happy to provide meals for visitors by prior arrangement.
Home and Grounds
This splendid period residence occupies a particularly beautiful setting in the quiet, but well-established residential area of Rock Ferry, near Birkenhead in the Wirral. The home is nestled within its own delightful, well-kept and secluded grounds, which include a sun deck and lawned gardens.
The restoration of this stunning old house has incorporated the retention of its original features, whilst accommodating all of the current Health and Safety regulations governing residential homes. Our residents enjoy the warm, nurturing environment of our home and the opportunity to watch wildlife while outside.

Personal Care
Our 24 hour staffing, including qualified nurses, ensures that personal assistance with washing dressing, bathing and toileting needs is always available. A resident need never be embarrassed about any help which they may require. Our staff are courteous and respectful at all times, and will always put your concerns at ease.
Staffing
Our home is staffed in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the Registering Authority. It is the policy of the home to provide quality care that is underpinned by quality training, which ensures that care and skills are kept at the highest level.
Medicines
All medicines are administered by trained carers, and are ordered on GP prescription. Medication is handed in upon admission so that accurate records can be kept and the correct treatment continued.
Meals
Summer Fields offers appetising, fresh and wholesome home-cooked food. While many residents enjoy our rotating menu, our commitment to personalised care ensures that your special dietary requirements and personal choice are well catered for. We would encourage you to discuss this with us. Regular hot/cold drinks and snacks are available for you to enjoy throughout the day
Our menus are displayed in advance, and the home can cater for all types of dietary needs. Meals are a leisurely experience so that residents can enjoy their meals and eat at their own pace.
Domestic Services
All rooms are serviced and cleaned daily.
Chiropody
We have a visiting chiropodist, who will attend to the residents’ feet where needed.
Physiotherapy
As part of each care package exercise, mobility and independence are maintained by our own staff. Should the need arise referral to a physiotherapist via a GP will be made for more intense treatments.
Toiletries
We can purchase toiletries on your behalf, and have them delivered to the home. The cost of these toiletries is then invoiced to you.
Newspapers
Any newspapers or magazines can be provided from our local newsagent at the residents’ own cost.
Hairdressing
We are visited by a local hairdresser each week. A small charge may be made for this service.
Laundry service
All clothing and bed linen are looked after by our on site laundry team. We request that each resident’s belongings are clearly marked, preferably with sewn in labels.
Basic mending is also included in the fees.
Activities
We encourage our residents to participate in as many activities as they wish. Tailored activity plans incorporate a person’s needs and wishes, depending upon their changing needs and desires.
